Guitar Chords- Add9 Chords

ADD 9 Chords

From the root when the ninth note is added to it, the chord becomes an add9 Chord!

Some people do call it add2 due to having this note in an octave difference between the two notes below the root note and the ninth note from the root!

Below is the most common C add9 Chord.

The Chord above is seen half step up from the previous one.

Minor Chords

Minor Chords are known to be sad-sounding chords.

The secret behind the minor chord is the root, the minor third, and the perfect fifth.

Consider the pictures below: and compare them with each other.

Here are the basic Minor chords.

Relative Major Chords for Flat and Sharp Chords

The rule is the same.

When you begin a song in a chord, normally if the song is in that scale the 4th and 5th chords of that chord are the relative major chords.

For example, here G sharp Chord is shown. If you count four steps from G- G sharp, A sharp, B -C sharp

a fourth of G is its relative major chords.

Not only that but 5th also gets that title too and it is D sharp.

Thus G sharp chord's relative Major chords are:

C sharp and D sharp.

Find out relative chords for these chords:

1. C sharp
2.D sharp

Introduction To Music

What is music?
Music is a universal language. Music can be defined as a systematic combination of sounds or voices in melody and rhythm.

What is Melody?
Melody is the movement of notes in a song.
It has a melody that carries its main essence of it

Whiskey lullaby is an example

What is Rhythm?
It is a repeated pulse of time in a song.

What is pitch?
It is the lowness or highness of a note.

What is a note?
It is a musical sound.

Introduction to Vocal

Vocal is one of the most popular ways music is produced. Three major kinds of things there be to produce music percussion, strings, and wind.

Vocal falls under the third category. Our mouth, stomach, throat, nose, tongue, and breath when properly managed produce beautiful music and we call it singing. Imagine if one of those was stopped or misplaced.

People that have all these can sing!

RYTHAMS

Rhythms are an essential part of guitar playing.

It is also known as Time Signature in notation or Tab.

Two numbers are written one above the other in a time signature.

if you observe in the notation chard, you can see 4/4

Other kinds of rhythms are

2/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc.

The above number indicates how many beats are there in a major.

The lower number indicates what kind of note (quarter, half, whole, etc.) gets one beat.

Majorly there are only four rhythms in usage with variations on the tempo and styles of strumming, guess what there are numerous ways of playing it.

Below are four major rhythms and different ways to play them.

D- refers to Down

U- refers to Up

M-  refers to Mute

The above picture shows you the beat or rhythm is 2/4  and there are 6 ways to play it.

This is 3/4 and four different ways to play it.

Above is 4/4 and four ways to strum that beat

Here is the last of our common rhythms- 6/8

If you concentrate a bit you can play this beat as

SECRETS TO KNOW 45 WAYS TO PLAY 12 CHORDS

By changing the shape of a chord and using the appropriate barre we can play one chord in various places.

Observe in the above chart the E major and the F Major.

The difference is that the E Major chords are moved one fret ahead and the 1st and 2nd strings are actually barred in the 1st fret.

Can you observe another chord like that?

Now, Let's move these above chords and add chords to our chords lists.

C major shape moved two frets ahead will give you a different flavor of D Major.

C major can be moved to 6-8  frets in the same shape and you can have F major in a different flavor.

Move two more steps and you can have a G major.

  1. C,
  2. D
  3. F,
  4. G

YOu can virtually move the D Major shape till the 12th fret and get chords like

  1. D,
  2. D sharp,
  3. E,
  4. F,
  5. F sharp,
  6. G,
  7. G sharp,
  8.  A,
  9. A sharp,
  10.  B,
  11. C,
  12. C sharp

Barred chords is also the product of this moving forward/ahead technique in the shape of E major which gives us

  1. E,
  2. F,
  3. F sharp,
  4. G,
  5. G sharp,
  6.  A,
  7. A sharp,
  8.  B,
  9. C,
  10. C sharp
  11. D,
  12. D sharp,

In G Major, you can get C, and D major chords by moving the G shape to 7th and 8th Fret and 9th and ten fret
  1. G,
  2. C,
  3. D
A major is another shape full of possibilities too
you get to have
  1.  A,
  2. A sharp,
  3.  B,
  4. C,
  5. C sharp
  6. D,
  7. D sharp,
  8. E,
  9. F,
  10. F sharp,
  11. G,
  12. G sharp,

Major Chords -1

Chords are made majorly of three notes.

Major chords are made of 1,  major 3rd, and the perfect fifth.

For example,

If we look carefully all the major chords are made of these three combinations.

Using the same formula below are the basic Major Chords shapes for Guitars.

MUSICAL NOTES

Notes

There are seven natural notes and five flat or sharp notes in between these, making altogether twelve notes in music.

  1. C
  2. C sharp /D flat
  3. D
  4. D sharp /E flat
  5. E---
  6. F
  7. F sharp /G flat
  8. G
  9. G sharp /A flat
  10. A
  11. A sharp /B flat
  12. B---
  13. C

These five notes are the half steps notes from other notes. They are written in do, re, mi fa, sol, la, ti, do, or in staff notation.

Staff Notation is used worldwide and Tab of guitar is sometimes in Tablature and also in Staff notation too.

Basic staff notation in the key signature of G is

Tuning Guitar

There are basically three ways to tune a Guitar:

1. By Ear

- For this to work, either you will have to know the sixth string in the E note, or get a piano or a tuner to tune that string.

- After sixth string is tuned, put your index finger in its 5th fret and you will have 5th string's note.

- Do that till 4th string, but in the 3rd string, put your finger in the 4th fret in stead of 5th fret. After that you will have your 2nd string's note.

- Use 5th fret for the last string too.

2. Piano

6th - E

5th- A

4th- D

3rd- G

2nd- B

1st- E (after Middle C)
